Xandef Xandef
Yeah, those old galvanized lines can be sneaky like that. In my place (built around 1925), we finally bit the bullet a couple years back and swapped out most of the galvanized supply pipes because the pressure had dropped so low it was barely a trickle in the shower. Turned out the inside was basically caked with rust and scale – no wonder things felt off. Cast iron drains have been more forgiving so far, still solid after all this time, though I've heard they can crack or corrode from the inside out eventually too. For anyone in the same boat, checking with local Plumbers in Perth, ON has been helpful for a real assessment without jumping straight to full replacement panic. Just my two cents from dealing with it firsthand – these systems were tough back in the day, but time catches up.
