Known for his ability to identify opportunities and drive growth, Alex has played key roles in the development and success of various ventures, from medical robotics to telecommunications and mining. 

Alex began his career with a solid foundation in engineering and military service. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, he went on to serve as a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. During his military service, Alex was stationed in Europe and the United States, where he led numerous projects, including the development of a battlefield visualization database. His experience in the military taught him valuable lessons in leadership, discipline, and strategic thinking, which would later prove instrumental in his business endeavors.

After completing his military service, Alexandre Clug transitioned to the private sector, where he quickly made a name for himself in the world of technology and finance. He earned an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA, further honing his skills in finance and entrepreneurship. His early career saw him working at Sensormatic, an international leader in security technology, and as a Senior Consultant at Cambridge Technology Partners. It was here that Alex developed a keen interest in the intersections of technology, business strategy, and market development.

Alex’s entrepreneurial spirit truly shined when he co-founded Avra Medical Robotics, Inc., a company at the forefront of medical technology. Under his leadership, Avra developed an autonomous medical robotic system designed to perform procedures with precision and efficiency. In 2017, Alex successfully led the company to a public listing, a significant achievement that highlighted his ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and bring innovative ideas to market. His tenure at Avra culminated in a merger with SS Innovations, a global leader in surgical robotics, further solidifying his reputation as a visionary leader in the medical technology space.

In addition to his work in medical robotics, Alex Clug has been deeply involved in the mining sector. His passion for exploration and development took him to Peru, where he invested in and operated a gold mine and processing plant. As the founder and CEO of Alta Gold S.A., Alex took over a mine previously owned by Glencore, one of the world’s largest mining companies. His hands-on approach in Peru not only involved managing operations but also navigating the complexities of international business and local regulations. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into the natural resources sector and showcased his ability to manage large-scale projects in challenging environments.

Beyond these sectors, Alexandre Clug has also been a significant player in private equity. As a Partner, CFO, and COO of DC Associates, a New York-based private equity firm, Alex focused on investments in both public and private markets, particularly in small and midcap companies. His role at DC Associates saw him participating on several company boards and acting as CEO of Secure Fortress Plc, a portfolio company specializing in secure communications for governmental and private entities. Under his leadership, Secure Fortress grew its sales pipeline to over $100 million and increased its valuation twenty-fold within six months following an IPO in the United Kingdom.

Alex’s diverse career also includes his time as CEO of eTelix Telecommunications in Venezuela, where he built the company from seed funding to a robust telecommunications provider with a sales force of 6,000. As the Managing Director of Puntocom Holdings, a CEMEX-backed e-conglomerate, he was instrumental in launching a Latin American online payment firm in partnership with Visa International. His leadership at Alterbrain, a Miami-based IT firm, led to a successful acquisition by Neoris, further showcasing his ability to drive growth and create value across different industries.

Today, Alex Clug continues to leverage his vast experience through his consultancy firm, The Dolphin Group LLC. Based in Jupiter, Florida, The Dolphin Group focuses on early-stage ventures and international opportunities, providing strategic guidance to startups and established businesses alike. Recent projects have included medical robotics, mining, farmland development, and fintech, demonstrating Alex’s ongoing commitment to innovation and growth.
