Avi's commitment to education extends to his community involvement, where he has taught 79 bar and bat mitzvah students, including 20 adults who missed the opportunity in their youth. His dedication to Jewish history and the Holocaust is profound, often lecturing on these subjects as the son of a survivor and an American father who fought in World War II.

Avi's contributions to the arts are equally remarkable. He has been involved in numerous Broadway and off-Broadway productions, with six winning TONY awards and two receiving Olivier awards. His passion for theater production reflects his commitment to cultural enrichment.

In his rare free time, Avi serves as the head coach of the basketball program at The Flatbush School in Brooklyn, New York. His involvement in significant legal and community projects, such as negotiating the establishment of an "eruv" for a Jewish community and securing state funding for African-American groups, highlights his dedication to social justice and community well-being.
