Benchmark Capstone Project Change Proposal

Students will work in collaboration with their approved course preceptor to recognize a clinically significant issue, question, thought or initiative in their NRS 493 Benchmark Capstone Project Change Proposal clinical practice setting and interface a nursing theory and evidence based change proposal. This will include identifying stakeholders for the proposal and creating a strategic plan for implementation of the project.

PICOT Question

A capstone project is a long-term, investigative project that culminates at the end of a school year or learning-pathway experience. Students typically select their projects based on their own interests and career aspirations, which can strengthen academic motivation and engagement at a time when this tends to wane.

In this task, the nursing understudy will utilize relegated concentrate on materials and research articles to recognize a clinically significant issue, thought or initiative in their community clinical work on setting that needs a proof based arrangement. The nrs 493 capstone project change proposal presentation will then utilize this data to make a change proposal.

For example, the nurse may choose to investigate central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) and how implementing evidence-based best practice solutions in addition to staff and patient education could reduce these hospitalizations. The nurse will use a PICOT question framework to aid in gathering beneficial evidence and determine a plan for the investigation. Using fast basic evaluation instruments created by Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, the student will evaluate eight articles that address the chosen clinical issue.

Research Paper

The capstone research paper is a professionally written project that will identify likely obstacles to the change proposal plan execution. Students will also present the results of their research study and describe how they addressed the potential challenges to this project.

This assignment builds upon weekly reflective narratives students have maintained and submitted throughout the course to explore the personal knowledge and skills they have acquired through their clinical practice experiences. The final submission will include what NRS 493 Individual Success Plan have discovered about themselves, how their knowledge and skills can be applied to current professional practice and the personal strengths and weaknesses that surfaced through the process of developing their capstone change proposal.

Work with your preceptor to assess the strategic plan for this change proposal and determine what resources are needed if it is implemented. Submit your evaluation through Lopes Activity Tracker.

Presentation

Students will conduct a presentation of the capstone project change proposal to an interprofessional audience. Following the presentation, students will receive feedback from their audience and will incorporate this into their final written capstone project.

The research paper section of the capstone project should include an overview of existing research and knowledge on your topic. It should also explain how your nrs 493 topic 1 lopes activity tracker kr fits into the larger body of research on your subject and highlight any practical applications of your findings.

Nursing capstone projects utilize the PICOT design (patient/issue, intervention, comparison and outcome) for scholarly work. The NR501 Importance of Theory course will help you stay centered while searching for scholarly articles on your PICOT question. Using PICOT will save time and facilitate your search for pertinent data within your research time frame. The NR501 article also provides tips on using CINAHL to search for specific nursing theories. These will help you narrow your searches for scholarly articles by reducing the number of hits.

Individual Success Plan

The Individual Success Plan helps students develop a clear plan to complete all course assignments, practice experience hours and course objectives. The ISP requires students to reflect on their learning, demonstrate a positive and professional character, and show interprofessional collaboration in the writing of the capstone change proposal.

For example, the capstone project change proposal could be based on an analysis of the effectiveness of continuous education interventions among nurses in order to decrease CLABSIs (Central Line Bacterial Bloodstream Infection) on a unit. The purpose is to help NR501 Importance of Theory in Nursing feel confident and comfortable with central line care skills and practices, knowledgeable of all EBP interventions for central line care, and motivated to meet the unit’s goal for minimizing CLABSIs.

Students will work with their preceptor to recognize a clinically oriented problem, identify an applicable change or nursing theory and create an effective plan for addressing the identified issue in future nursing practice. They will also integrate the research and reflective practice components of the PICOT question into the ISP and practicum reflection journal.
